Introductory Wine Appreciation Course (4 evenings)
Tuesdays August 18, 25, September 1, 8, 2009 - 6:30 to 9:00pm
Back to basics over four fun and informative sessions. What is wine? How do we taste? How do we know a ‘good’ wine and detect wine faults? What are generic styles and varietal wines all about? Taste the classics along with the new and exciting fashion wines. Explore the influence of winemaking on flavour and style. Learn why you like the wines you do and know what to look for.
A selection of quality cheeses and bread are served to accompany the wines each evening.

Are you confused by terms such as Grand Cru, First Growth and Appellation Controlee? Don't know a Sancerre from a Vouvray? Come along to this informative and fun-filled two-evening course designed to de-mystify the obscurities of French wine and clarify its regions, grape varieties and label terminonology.

Saturday July 4, 2009 - 10:30am to 4:30pm
The morning session covers the Back to Basics segment from the evening course: What is wine? How do we taste? How do we know a 'good' wine and detect wine faults? What are generic styles and varietal wines all about? A break for lunch at your own expense, then a close look at the classic white and red varietals to explore flavour and style. Not quite as in-depth as the 4 evening course but still a great starter course.
A selection of quality cheeses and bread are served to accompany the wines during the day.
