Corporate Presentations by Peter Bourne
Consider the benefits of lifting your next seminar, client dinner or boardroom event by featuring a wine tasting presentation by Peter Bourne.
" We and our clients thoroughly enjoyed both evenings. Your knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic, combined with your wine and food selection provided a recipe for great entertaining. We look forward to enjoying further evenings together with you and our clients in the future"
Geoff Davis, Managing Director, UBS Investment Bank
Peter’s style is relaxed and informative, he tries to avoid wine jargon and elitist attitudes and brings a great sense of energy and fun to any event.
Presentations range from a structured wine tasting for a small group seated at the boardroom table to a dinner for 500 with Peter acting as the master of ceremonies and introducing the wines with each course.
For most events, Peter will suggest a wine theme, organise the wine list to fit your budget & menu, order the wines, prepare any documents required for the occasion and deliver the presentation.
Presentations are developed to meet individual client needs but some ideas appear below that will be sure to have attendees talking long after the event.

"Dear Peter,
Firstly, thank you very much for making Monday night such a success. We have received the most positive feedback from our guests - they all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The most common comment made was how wonderful it was to hear such iconic wine industry figures talk about their passion and their wines."
Chris McFerran, Bilson's Restuarant
Boardroom events
Personalised Wine Appreciation
Peter runs personalised wine education sessions for your executives and their clients in your boardroom. The content can be varied to suit the wine knowledge in the group. Peter can run one single session, or a series of sessions depending on your requirements.
This format best suits around 15 people, but up to 30 can be accommodated. Approximately 8 wines are tasted in a session.
Peter is able to supply all the requirements including wine, course notes, glassware, spittoons as well as cheese and bread where required.
"On behalf of The Winemakers Federation of Australia and Dig Marketing Group we would like to say thanks a swillion for being our host for The Cellar at Wine Australia International 2006. You carried out the role perfectly, ensuring sessions ran on time, entertaining our panellists, providing real insight into the featured wines and remaining a picture of calm in moments of crisis; we really couldn't have managed without you! Thank you so much for making the sessions run smoothly in The Cellar; I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did."

Structured Tasting
Peter runs a structured wine tasting which is usually themed. Although structured, Peter’s delivery style allows for plenty of interaction and an ambience of informality and fun is created. The session normally commences with an aperitif, Peter will then introduce the theme for the evening and begin the tasting.
The theme can be tailored to suit but some suggestions appear below:
- a wine region (eg Margaret River WA)
- a varietal theme (eg Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Shiraz)
- a regional “taste off” – a comparison of the same grape variety from a number of regions (eg Shiraz from Hunter Valley (NSW), Barossa Valley (SA) and the Great Western District (Vic))
- Australia vs Europe - A comparative tasting similar to the regional “taste off” but incorporating a classic European region. (eg. Bordeaux’s Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc & Cabernets compared with Australian Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernets)
- Around the World tastings – Similar to Australia vs Europe but also includes wines from other wine producing nations (eg Pinot Noir from Burgundy France, New Zealand, California, South Africa, and Australia)
- Is older better? – explores the effect of aging on one or more variety (eg Riesling and Cabernets)
- Hip and Happening Varieties – introduces varieties new to Australia eg Tempranillo, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Barbera etc
This format best suits around 15 people, but up to 30 can be accommodated. Approximately 12 wines are tasted in a session.
Peter is able to supply all the requirements including wine, course notes, glassware, spittoons as well as advice for caterers or cheese and bread where required.

A Cocktail Party with a difference
An informal wine tasting can be run as part of a cocktail party. The evening normally commences with an aperitif on arrival, then Peter can introduce the wines as they are brought around by catering staff. Peter can also act as MC for the entire proceedings if required.
The format best suits up to 50 people.
Approximately 6 wines are tasted during the cocktail party.
Peter is able to supply all requirements including wine, glassware as well as liaison with the caterers to tie in the food with the wines being served.
"What a fabulous night you created for our clients, alliance partners and Viventé team members last week. We were absolutely delighted! We have received many thank-you's and very positive feeedback from our guests since the party, including some saying they are likely to contact you in future in relation to their own work functions."
Margaret Parkinson, Viventé Australia

Hosted Dinners or Lunch
Hosted dinners are a personal specialty as Peter does a lot of work in wine and food matching with Gourmet Traveller Magazine.
Your event maybe in the boardroom, at a restaurant or function centre. Peter will select wines to match your menu. An aperitif on arrival is common, then Peter begins the event with an introductory talk. He will later provide his unique commentary on the wines as they are served with each course. Peter can act as MC for the entire proceedings if required.
This format suits smaller boardroom style lunches through to large dinners up to 1,000 guests as Peter will tailor his presentation to suit. For smaller numbers a series of small courses works very well. Approximately 2 wines are served with each course.
Peter is able to organise for the wine to be delivered to your chosen venue and will liaise with the caterers to ensure a food and wine match.

"Thank you again for so generously giving us such an entertaining and informative evening on Tuesday. So many have commented on what a great night it was, and how charming you are"
Jan Reid, Cronulla Lantern Club for Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children
Wine Games

Wine Games add a lot of fun to catered events. Usually Peter will run a wine game in conjunction with a hosted dinner as above. The games may vary but the most popular are wine options and wine trivia.
